Azeem Ahmed Alvi is a globally acclaimed sitar virtuoso, born into the sixth generation of a distinguished lineage of Indian classical musicians. His musical journey began at the age of six under the guidance of his father, Ustad Sayyed Ahmed Alvi, and Ustad Mohsin Ali Khan. He later became a disciple of the legendary Padmashree Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, under whom he refined his artistry and depth of expression.
Azeem gave his first public performance at the age of twelve and was awarded the National Scholarship for Music by the Government of India also ‘A’ grade artist my All India Radio . Since then, he has performed at major festivals and iconic venues across India and around the world—including Japan, Germany, the UK, Austria, Singapore, Vietnam, and China—representing Indian classical music on the global stage.
Renowned for his emotive style and technical brilliance, Azeem is considered one of the leading sitar players of his generation. His sound bridges tradition with innovation, and he actively explores cross-genre collaborations in Sufi, Flamenco, Jazz, Electronica, and Western Classical music.
In addition to his solo work, Azeem is the founder of The Sitar Saga—a groundbreaking project created with music producer and keyboardist Glen Anacleto Fernandes. Fusing classical sitar with elements of EDM, rock, and cinematic soundscapes, The Sitar Saga delivers an immersive, genre-bending experience that redefines world music for contemporary audiences.
