Azeem Ahmed Alvi, born into the sixth generation of a family of classical Indian music, began his musical journey at the age of 6. He studied traditional Indian music under the guidance of his father, Ustad Sayyed Ahmed Alvi, and Ustad Mohsin Ali Khan. Under their tutelage, he honed his sitar playing skills and later mastered the art under the well-known genius Padmashree Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. Azeem gave his first live performance at the tender age of 12. Awarded a National Scholarship by the Government of India, he went on to perform at prestigious music festivals in India and around the world, representing Indian culture in countries such as Japan, Singapore, Germany, Vietnam, China, Austria, and the UK, among others. Through his travels, Azeem ensured that the sound of traditional Indian music was heard loud and clear in a variety of diverse interpretations. In his twenties, he became a prominent figure in Indian classical music and established a strong presence in the contemporary music scene both in India and abroad. Known as one of the foremost sitar players in the world, he aspires to bridge the gap between Indian classical and Western contemporary music, dabbling in genres such as Sufi, Flamenco, Jazz, Electronica, and Western Classical music.
